Hey Matt I think this is really insightful, I agree that I find this to be a common theme in games. Are you considering to design a game that looks to add that additional impact factor so a player's morality comes into play?

I'm definitely starting to consider it, though I think the direct choice between morality and victory points wouldn't be all that satisfying gameplay-wise. I think the standard victory condition of "most points wins" creates a lot of this optimizing behavior, so that's the first thing I've been brainstorming alternatives to.
